What are the needs and desires of distance students for cybercounseling?
How have you prepared for providing this student service?
We'll explore the latest trends in serving students who need
online counseling services and share examples of institutions
with good practice in cybercounseling. We will also consider
guidelines and best practice recommendations for counselors
and institutions.
Donna Ford has been a professional counselor for over 25
years, and recently retired as a counselor from Clackamas
Community College in Oregon. She was also a placement officer
at Portland State University. Donna received her Masters Degree
from Western Oregon State University.
Donna has held leadership positions in professional organizations
for 15 years. At the state level she is past president of
Oregon Counseling Association, Oregon College and University
Association and the Oregon Career Development Association.
At the national level, she has served, as chair of the Western
Region, President of American College Counseling Association,
has been a member of the American Counseling Association Governing
Counsel, and President of the American Counseling Association
1999-2000.
Donna is the recipient of Distinguished Service Awards from
the Oregon College and University Association and the Oregon
Counseling Association, the 1998 recipient of the Leona Tyler
Award for exceptional service for the profession from the
Oregon Counseling Association, the 1999 Professional Leadership
award form the American College Counseling Association, and
the 2001 Advocacy for College Counseling Award form the American
College Counseling Association. Donna served on the Oregon
Board for Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists
for six years. Donna is a National Certified Counselor and
a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Oregon.
